Children whose mothers are exposed to farm animals and cats are better protected off atopic dermatitis and are less likely to develop this painful inflammation of the skin in their first brace years of life. A group of researchers from the University of Zurich and other universities have published evidence supporting this scheme in the «Journal of Allergy & Clinical Immunology.

Atopic dermatitis (in like manner known during the time that atopic eczema) is a chronic and extremely arduous inflammation of the skin that frequently occurs in in season non-age, generally before that time in infancy. Up to 20 percent of all children in industrialized countries are affected, making it one of the most belonging to all childhood derm diseases.

The need to better understand this disease is the whole of the greater taking into account the stretched suffering it causes in slight children. Atopic dermatitis is, however, one allergic condition and all allergic reactions determination from complex interactions of genetic and environmental factors on the immune body. Earlier research has before that time indicated that allergies are less common in children who extend up on farms and whose mothers live on farms during their pregnancy. Exposure to farm animals and bacteria frequently found in farms as well as intemperate habits milk from the dairy make an attempt the immune system protection. However, proof of this affording protection effect in connection by the agency of atopic dermatitis has remained evasive..

Now, the «Journal of Allergy & Clinical Immunology» (JACI) has published a study by Caroline Roduit from the careful search team of Roger Lauener, University of Zurich. The study analyzes in what plight prenatal environmental factors and genetic mechanisms control the progressive growth of atopic dermatitis during the first two years of time from birth to death. The authors of the study examined children in rural areas of five European countries: Austria, Finland, France, Germany and Switzerland. Of the 1,063 children taking part in the reflect, 508 were from families that lived on farms, 555 were not landed estate children.

The researchers were able to demonstrate that women who consume their pregnancy in the proximity of practise husbandry animals and cats accept children with a reduced risk of developing atopic dermatitis in their first two years of life. The examination team in addition identified sum of two units genes in these children that are of highly important importance for innate immunity and was able to link the suitable feeling and execution of these genes to a lower likelihood of a physician diagnosis of an allergic condition. The findings of the study are not sole significant in the face of the common occurrence of the disease and the want it causes: They also carry on the theory that gene-environment interaction with the developing immune system influences the development of atopic dermatitis in young children.
